Welcome To Our Links Page! This page is divided into three parts:
Links to sources of Beach-related books appear on our Books And Resources page. A brief description is provided for each link. Where Beach-related information appears on a specific page of a given site, both that page and the home page for the site are highlighted. Note that all links should open in a new window! Please email us if: (i) a site has moved, and/or (ii) a link otherwise appears broken, so we can make the necessary changes to this page. Also please email us if you maintain or know of others sites with information about one or more Beach or Beech families, so that we may add them to this list. NOTE: Beginning August 27, 2003, we have undertaken an effort to verify all of these links and change or delete those which no longer appear functional. This effort continues and we would appreciate any additions/corrections.

*** Gone But Not Forgotten*** Over the years your editor has compiled three large Gedcom files which, at present, contain over 8000 descendants of Richard, John and Thomas Beach of New Haven. These have been uploaded to various sites, including America OnLine's Gedcom file library. Zipped versions of these files can likewise be downloaded from our "Files To Download" page. Through the courtesy of the Gone But Not Forgotten, searchable HTML versions of these three files are also available on the Web at the links below. The descendants of Richard Beach1 may be found at: http://www.gbnf.com/genealogy/rbeach/home.htm The descendants of John Beach1 may be found at: http://www.gbnf.com/genealogy/jbeach/home.htm The descendants of Thomas Beach1 may be found at: http://www.gbnf.com/genealogy/tbeach/home.htm *** GenForum *** GenForum is a "conglomeration of message boards" on individual surnames and other genealogical topics. The "Beach Family Genealogy Forum ", with queries and replies about the family, may be found at: http://www.genforum.com/beach/ There is also now a separate GenForum message board devoted to those families which spell the last name as "Beech". The URL is: http://genforum.familytreemaker.com/beech/ Given that both spellings have been used interchangably within some families we would recommend making a habit of checking both the "Beach" and "Beech" message boards from time to time. *** Rootsweb.Com *** This is another bulletin board devoted to queries and replies about Beach/Beech families. It includes la comprehensive "Search Page" which can locate queries, responses and other genealogical items posted to a number of different genealogy sites. The Beach queries and replies may be found at: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=surnames.beach *** FamilyHistory.Com / Ancestry.Com*** This is yet another bulletin board devoted to queries and replies about Beach/Beech families, sponsored by FamilyHistory.Com; part of the commercial Ancestry.Com genealogy site. The Beach queries and replies may be found at: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=surnames.beach *** The Beach Rootsweb Mailing List *** This mailing list is for the exchange of Beach-related information and questions. The mailing address for postings is BEACH-L@rootsweb.com. To subscribe send the word "subscribe" (without the quotes) as the only text in the body of a message to BEACH-L-request@rootsweb.com (mail mode) or BEACH-D-request@rootsweb.com (digest mode) *** Search the Beach (Or Other) Rootsweb List *** The following link will take you to a search engine which will let you conduct a text-based search of prior postings to the BEACH (or any other) Rootsweb mailing list. Just enter the name of the list in the first query box (e.g., "Beach"), hit the "Submit" button and follow the directions on subsequent pages. Also included are links to photographs of the graves of several members of this family at South Gower Cemetery, Grenville County, Ontario. The URL is: *** History Of Eliakim Beach's
Tavern, Trumbull, CT. *** John Lauria, of the Trumbull Historical Society, has authored a facinating account of the tavern once owned and operated by Eliakim Beach5, Samuel4, Josiah3, Nathaniel2, John1. In addition to presenting the history of the building and its owner, Lauria also makes some interesting observations on the role which taverns and spirits played in the life of colonial New England. He notes, for example, that: The Beach Tavern, similar to those of the latter 18th century, not only provided food and drink, but was a center of business and social life. Usually marked by a prominent sign, taverns were the main sources of community news, mail, gossip and confrontation. Here meeting notices and new ordinances would be posted as an early substitute for the daily newspaper. The URL for this valuable reference is: http://www.trumbullhistory.org/written/eliakim.shtml *** Biography Of Edward Merrill
Beach *** Wayne Sakal has written this appreciation of Edward Merrill Beach of Trumbull, Connecticut. The diary makes reference to several members of the family and is illustrated with photos taken during the trip. Anyone whose ancestors settled in the Old Northwest [e.g., Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, etc.] or parts of the South should check out this site. *** Brother's Keeper Home Page *** We have tried several commercially published genealogy programs, but keep coming back to Brother's Keeper for Windows as being easy to use, yet extremely powerful.
